Research with enviable views

This image was taken (and shared in twitter) by Nestor Saiz Arenales, a postdoc at the Memorial Sloan Kettering, in New York, during his visit to the Biomedical Research Park of Barcelona (PRBB). He came to see his collaborator at the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences, Pompeu Fabra University (DCEXS-UPF)Jordi Garcia Ojalvo, and to network and interact with colleagues from other departments and centres of the park.

Nearly 300 scientific conferences and talks take place every year at the PRBB, with many scientists, such as Dr Saiz Arenales, coming from all over the world to share knowledge – and to enjoy the views while they are at it!

For example, the flagship PRBB-CRG series conferences, with about 2 speakers per week, bring people in mostly from the US, the rest of Spain, the UK and France. Regretfully, only a low percentage of the speakers are female – gender balance in science is still a pending issue!

But not only scientists visit the PRBB; more than 12,000 visitors, from children and older students to the general public, come to the park every year. You can see more data about our visitors and activities at our Annual report 2018.
