For a quarter of a century now, the arrival of the warm weather has marked one of the most eagerly awaited events at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB): the Beach Volleyball Championship. A tradition which, as well as promoting sport amongst residents, helps to forge links between participants from different centres.
This year, the tournament brought together around 350 current and former residents of the Park, who began playing in late March. After multiple matches, the final took place on 24 July, followed by the awards ceremony, at which the following teams were honoured:
- 2×2 Gold – Stranger Swings
- 4×4 Cracks – Day-tonate
- 6×6 Gold – Volley Combo
An event that would not be possible without the volunteers who are part of La ORG. They are responsible for keeping the information on the website up to date so that teams always have everything they need to hand, for answering participants’ queries and requests, and for ensuring the maintenance and good condition of the competition equipment. This work is often unseen, but essential for the matches and the championship to run smoothly.
