Of the more than 1,600 people who are part of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), 61% are women. And to give them the voice they deserve, the PRBB has joined the celebrations of International Women’s Day this Friday, March 8.
Throughout the month, residents and visitors can enjoy the exhibition ‘Portraits of women in science’ in the park’s lobby. A work by Raquel P. Sierra of ‘collagesxrach’, made up of 12 scientific collages.
The portraits of Alicia, Ana, Ariadna, Cristiana, Ju, Natàlia, Marina A., Marina M., Nerea, Neus, Patricia and Teresa evoke their research and personal interests. In addition, each collage is accompanied by a quote from each researcher and a QR that leads to their interview in El·lipse, where we can get to know them a little better.
In addition, the round table “Women in science: a world of possibilities” has taken place today at 9.30 in the PRBB auditorium. In this session, the Park’s female staff have explained the different professional roles involved in research to about 200 4th year ESO, baccalaureate and cycle students. The six speakers have talked about being the CEO of a start-up (Sira Mogas), directing a scientific-technical service (Berta Fusté), carrying out basic or clinical research (Marta Román), being a technician in a laboratory (Heura Cardona), managing research (Joana Porcel), or being the deputy director of a research centre (Elena Bosch).
At about 11h there has also been a meeting and reading of the manifesto for March 8 at the Charles Darwin Square.
