This photo of the week we want to dedicate to the more than 200 volunteers who made it possible for the return to the face-to-face OpenPRBB to be a complete success. The open day is the time when all the residents of the Park, with different professional profiles (research and technical staff, support and administration, etc.) meet to show what we do and how we do it by welcoming citizens of all ages.
We prepared guided tours of the building with 12 simultaneous routes every 30 minutes and a Small Space with activities and scientific experiments for the little ones. The different centers of the Park offered 11 workshops to extract DNA, learn about the work of the animal facilities or how to design a drug with virtual reality. We had 6 magnificent speakers who explained their research in 30 minute talks, plus an outreach talk accompanied by magic!
In total, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., more than 1,200 visitors came, who were very satisfied with the day:
“We appreciated the great willingness and eagerness of the volunteers during the visit, and our 7-year-old daughter was enthusiastic about the Small Space!
“A fantastic experience for young and old, thank you very much for holding these days and giving us the opportunity to participate”
“I have learned a lot as a student who wants to go into science. The volunteers helped us a lot and explained it perfectly“
Some people even repeated the guided tours of the building up to 3 times, to be able to visit different laboratories!
So thanks again to all volunteers! We are very grateful for your participation. Without you the OpenPRBB would not be possible! You can see all the OpenPRBB 2022 photos taken by Vincenzo Rigogliuso in this Flickr album.
