Sand, community and science

The traditional beach volleyball championship of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) held last July the final matches of this popular tournament among the Park’s community, as we can see in the image shared with us from ORG.

After more than 20 editions, this time the championship brought together around 480 residents and former residents of the Park, out of the laboratories and offices, to give their best in the arena.

The tournaments have been divided into 2×2, 4×4 and 6×6 categories – and these, in turn, into different leagues according to the experience of the teams – and have been played between spring and summer, with the arrival of the good weather. But it has not been until this July when the highest leagues have played their finals with the following winning teams:

  • 2×2 modality: Blonde and The Beast
  • 4×4 modality: Espaguetis
  • 6×6 modality: Comando Gambas

Congratulations champions!

At the end of the tournaments, the participants gathered in the inner square of the PRBB where they could enjoy the prize-giving ceremony and a small party before celebrating their victories in style.

The ORG is in charge of organising the tournaments and competitions and is made up of volunteer residents from the PRBB centres. Given the dynamism and movement of the residents’ community, both the volleyball championship and the ORG are constantly growing. That is why they are looking for volunteers to be able to continue organising and enjoying more editions of the beach volleyball championship.
