On Saturday 5 October, as is now tradition, the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) held the OpenPRBB. A morning where the research of the centres that integrate the Park was the common thread for visitors to enjoy science.
The inner square came alive with 13 workshops that allowed visitors to see life beyond the human eye, to understand how we can prevent cancer at home or how we can regenerate our vision, among many others. Likewise, the ‘ciència a la fresca’ space in the square hosted 10 micro-talks that allowed a direct dialogue with the research staff of the PRBB.
However, the highlight of the day were the guided tours of the building. A unique opportunity to walk around our emblematic building, marvel at our day to day views and, of course, get to know our laboratories thanks to the researchers themselves.
‘I come every year and I love it, but I don’t have time to see it all! I wish I could come next year, you guys are amazing!’
OpenPRBB 2024 Testimony
In its 17th edition, the OpenPRBB has welcomed nearly 1,200 visitors (some of them for the 2nd, 3rd or nth time!) who have sent us their opinion of the day, which they rated with an average of 9.48. And among the comments received, the desire to repeat and the opportunity to get so close to science stand out.
‘It is a pleasure to see how the effort and work of so many people is combined in the progress of research’
OpenPRBB 2024 Testimony
But if there is one thing that should be highlighted about OpenPRBB 2024, it is the involvement of the 250 volunteers who made the day possible. 250 residents, with very diverse professional profiles, who in one way or another contribute to making science a reality. For them, we have only words of thanks and recognition for their commitment to research.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
This year, the PRBB also enjoyed the collaboration of the Casa Batlló. Thanks to Amilcar Vargas, World Heritage Management and his team, 50 volunteers visited Gaudí’s emblematic building. A cultural opportunity that also served to get ideas on how to create an unforgettable experience for our visitors.
