Horizon 2030. This is the year in which the new Hospital del Mar is expected to be finished. After more than 100 years of history, this university hospital, linked to the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), is in full expansion and modernization. The 2nd phase of this process has begun this June 2021.
This 2nd phase, of 3 in total, will mean an increase of 22,500m2, solving some of the current space needs and with infrastructures and equipment that allow a personalized and efficient response to any situation.
These new spaces include a new integrated emergency area, a maternal and child area, an ophthalmological institute, as well as garden areas.
The Hospital del Mar 2030 wants to be a leading center in the fields of care, teaching and research
In addition, the new hospital has been designed to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly, and make use of artificial intelligence and augmented reality for better diagnosis and treatment of patients.
