Ferran Casals earned a doctorate in genetics at the UAB, and subsequently went on a postdoctoral stay in Canada studying the genetic origin of rare diseases. He currently manages the genomic service of the UPF, where he works on the development of new methods of genetic analysis. He also leads projects on immune system diseases, forensic genetics for the identification of ancient remains, and genetic teaching projects.
