In 2005, when the emblematic building of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) had not yet been inaugurated, the Park found in the Department of Medicine and Life Sciences of the Pompeu Fabra University (MELIS-UPF) its ally to reward the best research work in the field of life sciences carried out by Catalan high school students. The Premi PRBB seeks not only to distinguish excellence in research, but also to encourage a critical spirit and scientific vocations among young people.
Since its first edition 20 years ago, more than 3,100 students have submitted nearly 3,000 works to the annual calls, which had to be adapted in times of pandemic. Until now, the award has honoured the best research works of baccalaureate students from all over Catalonia, and now it will also reward the best work of vocational training students in the same competition.
This year the period for submitting entries will remain open until 9.00 am on 26 February and will offer the following prizes:
- 1st prize of 1,000€
- 2nd prize of 500€
- 3rd prize of 300€
- 4th and 5th prizes of 250€
If you present your final work (TR) this year you can’t miss this opportunity!
And for the teachers: encourage your students to participate (here we leave you some posters to hang up in your schools), they will surely like the experience as much as the finalists of the XVIII edition!
