Aquest enfocament va transformar la ci\u00e8ncia, per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 tenia l\u00edmits. Les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules no funcionen com una suma de parts separades. Funcionen com a sistemes complexos i din\u00e0mics, on <strong>gens, prote\u00efnes, metab\u00f2lits i senyals interactuen constantment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aquest \u00e9s el punt de partida de la <strong>biologia de sistemes<\/strong>: un enfocament que busca <strong>entendre un proc\u00e9s biol\u00f2gic com un tot (el \u201csistema\u201d)<\/strong>, en lloc d\u2019estudiar-ne nom\u00e9s un component (els gens individuals) cada vegada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La idea \u00e9s senzilla, per\u00f2 les implicacions s\u00f3n enormes. Si els investigadors i investigadores poden captar prou informaci\u00f3 sobre un sistema biol\u00f2gic i entendre com interactuen les seves parts, poden comen\u00e7ar a <strong>descriure\u2019l, modelitzar-lo i predir-lo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:63px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mirant m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 dels gens individuals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ara sabem que un gen no actua sol. La seva funci\u00f3 dep\u00e8n d\u2019<strong>on i quan s\u2019activa, i de com hi interactua la resta de components de la c\u00e8l\u00b7lula<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El color dels ulls n\u2019\u00e9s un bon exemple. Les mutacions o els al\u00b7lels d\u2019un sol gen influeixen en el color dels ulls, per\u00f2 la s\u00edntesi del pigment \u00e9s en realitat el resultat d\u2019una cascada multig\u00e8nica: una cadena d\u2019esdeveniments en qu\u00e8 intervenen m\u00faltiples gens i vies cel\u00b7lulars. D\u2019aquestes interaccions cel\u00b7lulars complexes emergeixen noves funcions que no s\u2019havien previst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:63px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Una nova manera d\u2019estudiar la vida<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La biologia de sistemes ha crescut de la m\u00e0 dels <strong>aven\u00e7os tecnol\u00f2gics<\/strong>. Ara el personal investigador pot registrar els esdeveniments relacionats amb un proc\u00e9s biol\u00f2gic concret i generar una quantitat de dades sense precedents, des de gens i ARN fins a prote\u00efnes i metab\u00f2lits. \u00c9s el que s\u2019anomena el m\u00f3n de les <strong>\u201c-\u00f2miques\u201d<\/strong>, que inclou la <strong>gen\u00f2mica, la transcript\u00f2mica i la prote\u00f2mica<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aquestes tecnologies generen <strong>grans volums de dades<\/strong>, de manera que processar aquesta informaci\u00f3 requereix m\u00e9s que la biologia experimental tradicional. Tamb\u00e9 exigeix una nova filosofia de treball: equips interdisciplinaris amb persones de l&#8217;\u00e0mbit de la biologia, matem\u00e0tiques, enginyeria, estad\u00edstica i inform\u00e0tica treballant plegades.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:63px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Del big data als models biol\u00f2gics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El gran volum de dades quantitatives ha obert una nova possibilitat en biologia que fa una d\u00e8cada gaireb\u00e9 no s\u2019imaginava: utilitzar dades biol\u00f2giques per construir <strong>models<\/strong>. La comunitat cient\u00edfica intenta registrar tants esdeveniments rellevants com sigui possible dins d\u2019un proc\u00e9s biol\u00f2gic i despr\u00e9s <strong>fan servir eines computacionals per identificar els patrons i les regles que en governen el comportament<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si aquests models s\u00f3n prou bons, poden ajudar els investigadors a anticipar com respondr\u00e0 un sistema en condicions diferents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per aix\u00f2 la biologia de sistemes sovint s\u2019associa a la idea de <strong>biologia predictiva<\/strong>.
